I'm Back!

I forgot that I had a blog. It's been two years since I have created a post. Crazy! There are a few things that have spawned my recent interest in resuming my blog. The first being Miya Crockett.

Her interest in her blog and the amazingly funny stories in hers have sparked my memory. The second is my removal from Facebook. Several months ago, I deleted my profile. I soon realized that it was more than a social networking site to me. I mainly used it to communicate with band members from my 2 yr band Mass D.

So in order to plan practices, post updates, and coordinate events, I adopted the Mass Dee profile. Our goal as a band was to complete a full lenght album which we have titled Summer Nights & Green Lights. We have submited our artwork and music and are now waiting for the project to be created and shipped.

I graduated and all that entails. Let's just say I love being done with High School. Everything about it.

This past year I had the incredible opportunity to make a new friend. The first words she ever said to me were far from where our relationship grew to. We were at a party and she was in the kitchen cleaning up the mess all by herself. So I went in and began to fill up the sink with hot water to wash the dishes she was putting in. And her first words were, "Do you even know how to wash dishes?" Ha! I think I remember responding that I probably didn't. But I continued to stand in front of the sink and wash the dishes. Since then we've done some crazy things. Made an ice sculpture. Went to a Phoenix Suns game.

Went to Prom.

But the biggest part of our friendship was the opportunity we had to go to the temple every Tuesday night. It was such a blessing. Not only did we receive the blessings of temple attendance, but we began to see each other differently. As children of God. We shared many spiritual experiences with each other and grew immensely. It was the best part of my senior year in high school. I can't imagine the pain and anguish I would have felt without her influence in my life. I don't deserve the opportunity to have had her as my best friend. I am so excited for her future!! We can never go back to the experiences we've had, but I'm thrilled to hear about the choices she will be making the next few years. I love this girl!

I've been up at my cabin for the past 66 days. Mostly on my own. This gave me the opportunity to grow a beard!

I think it looked better in person. I had my bishop's interview to turn in my mission papers with a beard! A bit ironic I think. Speaking of which, my call is coming any day now. Been waiting 3 weeks already. I'll for sure post on here where I'm going when I know. And please don't feel bad about not being invited to my opening, I'm probably just doing it with my parents. Little bit more special that way I think. But I still love you! I've been working at the cabin. Gotten quite a bit done. I'm a pro at taping dry wall. Installed the wood panel ceiling. Installed all the light fixtures and fans. Put in cabinets. Tiled a shower and counter tops. It's been an adventure! And amidst all this work, I've had the opportunity to do some really fun things! Took a trail ride on a llama. Saw some miniature donkeys.

Visited the oldest standing school house in AZ. Saw a blues band called Big Pete Pearson and the Rhythm Room All-stars. Loads of beautiful sunsets.

Lots of adventures. Kissed a frog.

Miss my family terribly. It's been a good step towards the separation of being on a mission I think. I've gotten to write in my journal so much! Every day in fact. I've never written more than 2 days consecutively in my life until now. So it's been quite a trip! I'll be returning home on August 14th.

Right after I return home my bestest friend Elder Brian Nielson will return from his mission!

I cannot wait. I stop and touch his missionary plaque every day at church. I think about our reunion constantly. Can't wait till that long embrace of so many emotions of joy, remembrance, companionship, etc. He's such a stud. I love him to death.

Well, that's me! Can't wait to post again.
